Friday 9/23, 6pm-8pm
SURYA NAMASKARA

The sun salutations are a complete practice in and of themselves. They are theplace where the mind and body connect in a rhythmic correlation to the breath. If Day could only choose one part of the practice to work on for the rest of her life, it would be Surya Namaskar. It is infinitely complex and profoundly simple. Complete with backbends, forward bends, lateral extensions, strength postures, inversions and standing postures. Here we will look at alignments techniques for each posture, fluid transitions, and deep Ujjayi breathing.

Saturday 9/24, 7-9am
GUIDED PRIMARY SERIES OF ASHTANGA YOGA

A guided primary class is conducted following specific vinyasa counts and the names of each posture called in Sanskrit. Following the rhythm of the vinyasa counts is meant to develop physical strength and mobility, mental clarity, emotional calm and spiritual awakening.

Saturday 9/24, 11-1pm
JUMPING LIFTING FLOATING FLYING

This workshop is meant to explore ways to refine a seasoned practitioner's skills in yoga. Daylene will describe the main obstacles or "hidden locks" that prevent students from experiencing the lightness, grace and strength of a master. We will work on various techniques for jump throughs, jump backs, headstands, forearm stands and handstands. This will be a fun, light-hearted class with lots of room for exploration, hands-on adjustments and questions.

Saturday 9/24, 2-4pm
HEALING FROM INJURIES

“Injury is an unavoidable part of practice and life. It is one of the obstacles on the path of yoga. We all experience it, and we all have felt a sense of loss because of it. As a teacher, I have objectively guided many students in their work with and through injuries. But as a practitioner I recognize I have personally felt the fear, sadness, frustration, hopelessness, confusion, and defeats that an injury will cause. For many students, it is the cross roads that either makes or breaks their yoga practice. Because of that, if you are to come out on the other side, it can also be one of the most empowering and important stages of growth on the yogic path.”

Join day for the special discussion, and she will demystify some of the most common injuries, Including: hamstring strain, knee and shoulder injury, and back pain.

Sunday 9/25, 7-9am
GUIDED PRIMARY SERIES OF ASHTANGA YOGA

A guided primary class is conducted following specific vinyasa counts and the names of each posture called in Sanskrit. Following the rhythm of the vinyasa counts is meant to develop physical strength and mobility, mental clarity, emotional calm and spiritual awakening.

Sunday 9/25, 1-3pm
BACKBENDING

Backbends are perhaps the most important postures to counter the stresses and activities of modern life. We will explore the postures in Ashtanga’s Primary Series that will lead to the most pleasant back pending experience possible. In this workshop we will study the alignment principles and practices that can forever transform backbending into the exhilarating experience they can be, making the common sore back a thing of the past. While deep backbends are typically associated with flexibility, we will emphasize the strengthening aspects needed for the over all health of your spine in a backbend. Practices and demonstrations will be included to guide you to eventually stand and dropback from Wheel Pose on your own.
