How the Back Bends: The Architecture of Backward/Forward Bending
This class will bring awareness to the many small curves of the body and relate them to the great curves of forward and backward bending postures. We will address techniques for reforming arches for those who do not naturally backbend, and creating boundaries for those whom back bending comes all too easily. This will be complemented by a selection of deep forward bend techniques that can turn anyone into a natural forward bender.
David Regelin is skilled at providing simple yet precise articulation of form and technique that echo in the students' body. As a young teacher, David created the "Multi-Intenso" experience, a class that garnered a wide spread following in New York City. "Multi-Intenso" was a technique based, athletic and dynamic style of yoga centered around handstands. Over time, David's reflective nature and incessant personal investigation into the potential transformative powers that a yoga practice can give, led him to a more comprehensive approach to how physical form relates to psychological and emotional states. Inclined toward the mystical and timeless, David's practice and teaching has evolved into a more refined adaptation of how an asana (postural) practice can instigate profound mind-body awareness.
