This workshop is for both the "lovers" and "haters" of backbends
Backbends are some of the most visually striking, physically strengthening, and energetically purifying postures yoga has to offer. Unfortunately because of their difficulty and mystique backbends are also some of least understood, poorly constructed, and commonly avoided postures in the system of yoga. Join Mickey Barr for an invigorating and informative workshop on the art and science of backward bending! Workshop will consist of an asana practice exploring beginner to intermediate backbends on three planes, prone, supine, and kneeling. Class will also include an easy to understand explanation of spinal anatomy, exploration of restorative backbends with props, and a backbending sequence you can take home and practice on your own.
