THOMAS GENERAZIO (he/him)

My yoga journey began in my mid-40's when I was looking for alternative ways to manage my chronic back pain and sciatica. As a baker/bakery owner, years of heavy lifting, repetitive movements, and standing in front of a work bench for hours on end had wreaked havoc on my body.  Prior to age 40, I had never imagined that I would become a person living with pain on a daily basis.  But here I was – seemingly “healthy” for someone middle-aged, but absolutely miserable from the almost constant physical pain I was experiencing, and the emotional/psychological anguish that comes with it.

Over the years, several of my friends had urged me to take up yoga as a means to address my back issues.  I finally gave in and signed up for a mixed-level class at a local studio in my home town of Scituate, MA.  From that first class, I was immediately hooked.  Though not a cure-all, yoga has helped me tremendously to manage this part of my life and in ways that western medicine could not. But beyond this, my yoga journey thus far has been transformative in many other aspects of my personal life.  As a queer person of color, it has helped me to cope with past trauma, improve my personal relationships and break down internal barriers that had previously prevented me from living a fuller/happier life.

I recently completed my 200 Hour Training at JP Centre Yoga in June of 2026 and look forward to growing in my practice as both teacher and student.

What To Expect From My Classes

First and foremost, I hope that you will find my classes fun.  You’ll move, you’ll sweat and you’ll laugh at least once (hopefully).  Beyond the traditional yoga poses, I incorporate dynamic movement exercises throughout my class.  Why? Because motion is lotion for the body.  It is my personal belief that the ability to move fluidly from one pose to the next (mobility) is as important as the strength gained from holding a particular pose for several breaths. In my teaching practice, I utilize a mandala flow - a dynamic style of vinyasa yoga where we move in a 360-degree circle around our mats.  This sequencing style serves as a moving meditation, helping us break out of habituated movement, improve spatial awareness, and build full-body strength.
