ELISANETT MARTINEZ (she/her/ella)
I am a first-generation Dominican immigrant, who identifies as a Black Afro-Latinx Queer woman. My life’s work is to help BIPOC Queer Folx find true authenticity and liberation through movement.
During quarantine, like so many others, I had a spiritual awakening that changed my life and worldview. An energy of questioning and hunger for knowledge led me to enroll in JP Centre Yoga's 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training and 25-Hour Restorative Yoga Training, under the guidance of Daniel Max, Alana Brennan, Sacha Mendoza, Alex Bauermeister & Brenna Matthews.
Yoga has encouraged me to show up as my most authentic self on and off the mat. It has taught me when to act and when to rest, which is what I hope to share with anyone that takes my class. My goal is to make class a safe space for BIPOC Queer, Trans, and Fat bodies.
What You Can Expect From My Classes
When taking my class, you can expect a blend of Pranayama, Flow, and Restorative sequences. My objective is to have students feel present and restored in their bodies. As a teacher, my mission is to center and honor the yoga philosophies of South Asian cultures that make this practice so sacred.
