Join Mychal Bryan for a hands-on therapeutic weekend specifically designed for knee care in yoga.
This weekend intensive is a focused study of how to work with the knees in a precise, structured, and repeatable way using Iyengar Yoga principles.
Participants will learn how to adapt common asanas for knee sensitivity, build strength and space in the joint, and apply clear therapeutic strategies that can be practiced independently or integrated into teaching.
This is practical work — designed to be understood, retained, and used.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
Participants will be supported in two working roles:
• Teachers / trainees — attending to learn, document, and carry these methods into their own teaching
• Receivers / practitioners — attending to be worked with directly and experience the process in their own bodies
Throughout the weekend, participants will rotate through partner-based work, so that everyone gains both applied understanding and embodied experience of the techniques.
What you will learn
• How to adapt standard yoga postures to support and protect the knees
• How to read structural imbalances in the knee joint and respond appropriately
• How to build strength, space, and mobility through specific therapeutic actions
• How the hips, thighs, and lower legs influence knee function
• A clear, repeatable knee care protocol you can practice or teach
You will also be introduced to Iyengar Yoga knee rods—specialized tools used to help correct deeper structural imbalances and refine alignment work in the knees.
This intensive is designed for:
• Yoga teachers who want clear, transferable methods they can apply in their own classes
• Students who want to work directly and consistently on improving their knee health
• Anyone interested in a structured, therapeutic approach to asana beyond general instruction
No prior experience with Iyengar Yoga is required.
