The Magical Spine with Ame Wren

Often misunderstood, frequently cranky, and chronically underappreciated, our spine and its curves need more attention.

We all know the unpleasant feelings of too long at a desk, on a screen, in a car or lugging a backpack. We also know the lightness in the spine that comes after a yoga practice. But do we know how to access that lightness in shorter bursts? Or how to attend to our spine off the yoga mat as well as on?

This workshop will entail a very brief anatomical overview of the spine and its movements. Then we will do a practice encompassing both familiar yoga poses and unfamiliar strength and Pilates-inspired movements to reset the spine and feel its capacity for agility and alignment. Throughout, we will utilize the breath as a way to massage the spine from the inside out.

Don’t miss the special opportunity to practice in person with longtime JPCY teacher Ame Wren. A former JP native, Ame’s lifelong study has relocated her to Virginia to pursue a PhD in American Religion.
