The Call of the Soul: A New Year's Mini Retreat with Brenna Matthews

The new year tends to make even the most resistant among us a bit reflective and introspective. How have we navigated our lives in the time it has taken for the Earth to rotate around the Sun?

Resulting resolutions from such reflection are often punitive, born out of judgement or a sense of lacking. With such a starting point, it's no wonder most are short lived.

Ancient Yogic and Vedic wisdom offers a different path; one where you accept that you are whole and there is nothing to fix - there is only the process of remembering and coming home to your true nature.

Therein lies the practice of Sankalpa: creating a spiritual resolve or deep inner prayer in alignment with the call of your soul rather than the conditioning of the lower, confined mind. In this day long mini immersion, we will explore ways to lessen the grip of conditioning to more clearly hear that call. There will be an emphasis on open, loving community, deep introspection through practices, meditations and writing, and surrender to the inner guidance that is beyond the intellectual mind. We will endeavor to release the grip of shame and punishment and turn toward acceptance, healing, and growth.

“How
Did the rose
Ever open its heart
And give to this world
All its
Beauty?
It felt the encouragement of light
Against its Being.
Otherwise,
We all remain
Too
Frightened”
― Hafez

* audio recordings of the practices and lectures from the retreat will be available for the participants after the event.
