JOANNA KARBEL (she/her)
I joined the JPCY community in 2016 as part of the work-study team, and through that experience—and the years that followed—I’ve formed many meaningful connections and developed a deep love and gratitude for the practice. In 2025, I completed my 200-hour teacher training with Daniel and Alana (and many inspiring guests) alongside the most wonderful cohort of aspiring teachers.
Yoga has taught me to slow down, connect to my breath, and be present with what is—both in moments of effort and in moments of stillness. I love setting an intention at the beginning of class and returning to it at the end, noticing how I often leave feeling different than when I arrived, both physically and emotionally— typically more grounded and open. I’m continually inspired by how each class offers something new, reminding me that yoga is an ever-evolving experience, both on and off the mat.
What You Can Expect From My Classes:
As I begin teaching, I look forward to creating a welcoming, relaxed space where students are invited to move, breathe, and pause—balancing effort with ease and practicing presence, stillness, and surrender in community with one another.
