Yoga for Us: BIPOC-Only Space The Opening - Heart-Centered New Year’s Day Practice of Intention, Healing, Joy, and Inner Child Reconnection

This New Year’s Day, I’m inviting you to begin the year with a grounding, nourishing, and heart-centered practice created specifically for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color.

The Opening is a gentle and joyful offering that welcomes you to move with intention, reconnect with the most loving and curious parts of yourself, and hold space for your inner child. Whether your childhood was filled with joy, challenge, or both, this practice makes space for all of it. Together, we will open our hearts, settle our bodies, and honor who we are and what we need to feel whole.

We’ll explore the connection between heart and hip openings, intuitive movement, guided meditation, and quiet journaling. This offering centers the heart as a guide back to our own humanity and helps us step into the new year feeling connected, rooted, and ready.

What to Expect

Heart & Hip Opening Yoga Practice

We’ll move through a slow and intentional yoga sequence centered around the heart and hips. These are areas of the body where we tend to hold emotional memory, tension, and even grief. As we soften and release, we begin to make space for something new. This practice is a bridge between the present you and your inner child.

Intuitive Movement & Play

After we’ve softened the heart, we’ll move into music-led, intuitive movement. This is your chance to dance, sway, stretch, or be still. You’ll be invited to let your inner child take the lead and move in whatever way feels authentic and joyful.

Inner Child Reconnection & Vulnerability Practice

We’ll spend time reflecting on what our younger selves might still need from us and how we can care for them today. This part of the session gently invites you to acknowledge your past while reclaiming what you still deserve: joy, attention, creativity, softness, and safety.

Heart-Centered Meditation + Journaling

Through guided meditation and thoughtful journaling prompts, you’ll be supported in listening inward. These reflections can help you open your heart more fully and set grounded, meaningful intentions for the year ahead.

Herbal Tea Ceremony

We’ll close our time together with a warm cup of heart-opening tea featuring herbs like rose, tulsi, and lemon balm. You’ll be invited to sip slowly and seal your intention with presence and care.

A Community of Open Hearts

This is a BIPOC-only offering rooted in the need for safe, affirming spaces. Here, you don’t have to explain yourself or shrink parts of your identity. You’re invited to show up fully and be met with care, community, and love.
